With our new school year a new school council election took place. The council gives children across our primary school a voice within our school community.
The council is made up of two representatives from each class, from Reception to Year 6. Members are elected by their peers to represent the views and ideas of their classmates.
They meet regularly to discuss ideas, share feedback and help make positive changes around the school. Our councillors play an important role in listening to others, working together and helping to make Barnham Broom Primary School an even better place for everyone.
We are proud to give our children the opportunity to develop their confidence, leadership skills and an understanding of democracy while making sure that every voice is heard.

In June, the whole school went on a fun and very hot trip to Pensthorpe. Unfortunately the day started with a bit of a delay due to some coach issues, but everyone dealt with it so well and waited patiently in the hall until we left. The rest of the journey was uneventful and on arrival, everyone still had plenty of time to enjoy all the activities on offer.
Everyone had a chance to go pond dipping, which many children had never done before, and we found pond skaters, water hog lice, pond snails and dragonfly nymphs. All children had a chance to play in both the indoor and outdoor play areas. They had a brilliant time racing down the slides, challenging themselves on the obstacle course and playing lots of vast games of hide and seek.
Finally, we found time to build some dens, and there was also time to walk to see some of the birds that live around the Pensthorpe site — flamingos, cranes, geese and lots of kinds of ducks. Several of the ducks tried to join us for lunch too — there were some very cheeky ones trying to steal our sandwiches!
There were lots of very hot, tired and happy children on the way home! Well done Barnham Broom on a fantastic trip!
